MXR EVH-90 EDDIE VAN HALEN PHASE 90.
Edward Van Halen earned his spot in the guitar tone hall of fame with the first note on his debut album in 1978. The guitar work on that album still boggles minds more than 25 years later. The tones that EVH got on that classic record are among the greatest ever, and a huge part of Eddie‘s guitar sound has always been the MXR Phase 90.
The Phase 90 contributed to the unbelievable tones on "Eruption," "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love," "On Fire," and "Atomic Punk," plus many other timeless Van Halen tracks. Now you can grab a piece of Eddie's magic with the new MXR EVH 90—a collaboration between Eddie Van Halen and Dunlop Manufacturing that represents a totally redesigned, updated version of the legendary Phase 90. The EVH 90 will give you the same great spacey swirls and hypnotic warbles that made the Phase 90 famous. But the EVH 90 also features the all-new Script switch that lets you instantly toggle between a vintage, "Script Logo" phase tone and a more modern, in-your-face "block logo" phaser. Plus, the EVH 90 sports the greatest graphics in the history of rock: the red, white, and black stripes from Eddie's legendary Frankenstein guitar.
Oh yeah—it's also got a bitchin' new blue LED. Now, how cool is that?

The sound quality is so much better than on the regular new Phase 90, because of the new "Script" switch. You can get the classic vintage "script logo" Phase 90 tone that you can hear on all those 70's records. There's also the option to get the modern "block logo" Phase 90 tone, which I personally don't like because it adds a boost and distort slightly your signal. The "script" mode is more natural sounding.

I bought this pedal a week ago looking for that sound heard in the song "Unchained." Have both the EVH Phase 90 AND the EVH Flanger. With the right amount of distortion and maybe a little delay, this pedal is amazing and sounds dead on for "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love."

This is great sounding...I love it set at just below 9-oclock setting with script mode on or just above 9-oclock with block mode on. Script mode is a little more subtle, and I personally favor it. Block mode is more vocal and in your face.

- Do you know the firmware revision number? Has your unit been upgraded?
Simple. 1 knob, 1 button and an on-off switch. The manual isn't needed. Simple to get great sounds.
